Veterinary Professionals
Looking for Help? We’ve Got You Covered.
As veterinary professionals, we need to know a lot about a lot. However, most of us receive little or no training for how to handle behavioral problems in our patients. The good news is, you don't need to have all of the answers, you just need to know where to go to find them.

Regardless of your role on the veterinary team, as a veterinary professional, I am in your corner. That means that anyone can reach out to me: patient care assistants, veterinary assistants, credentialed technicians, veterinarians, practice managers, and all other members of the profession. In order to fulfill my mission of increasing awareness and understanding of behavioral medicine, I offer free 10 minute non-emergent consultations for patients on a limited basis. Please note while I am able to provide free case support, I cannot provide full consults due to very high demand for services and time-constraints stemming from my other service offers.

I am able to briefly consult on:
- Medical management resources for behavior
- Safety recommendations to relay to clients regarding a case
- Immediate management to recommend for the problem behavior
- Safe and humane handling of patients in the hospital or clinic

Other Service Offering:
Behavioral Veterinary Technologist on Retainer
After a VCPR has been established with a doctor at the practice, as a third-party provider, I am able to provide telemedicine consultations to the client for a wide range of common and uncommon cat and dog behavior problems. These consultations are preferably done over Zoom or Webex so that I can observe the pet's behavior in vivo and make specific environmental management recommendations. However, as part of our commitment to inclusion, phone consultations are also available if needed.
Consultations are approximately an hour long, and include handouts for the client, and a behavior plan for the patient. All behavioral recommendations made for each case are based on evidence-based practices in animal training and behavior as well as the unique circumstances of the human-animal bond, including the resources available within a respective region.
Documentation is important: Medical and/or progress notes are sent to the clinic/doctor by email after a consultation so that they can be uploaded into the patient's medical record. In addition, the patient's referring doctor will also receive copies of all of the information the client received, and any other information relevant to the case will be sent.
For cases in which medical management of behavior is implicated, I will notify the doctor and discuss this option after the initial consult with the client. Please note, I will never imply, encourage, or pressure a doctor into practicing outside of their self-defined scope of practice. However, I do ask that you engage in meaningful conversation with me regarding medical management of behavior. I am happy to provide the resources and clinical data behind my recommendations to support you in alleviating emotional pain and suffering in patients and promote a better quality of life. My ultimate goal is to support you and your practice with behavior patients.

How it works:
This service is B2B2C. Interested clinics may fill out the form. After the form is received, information will be sent by email to the clinic regarding service details and pricing information. Since my services are offered nationally, I am able to negotiate pricing for each clinic based on unique demographic data. My cost to the clinic is determined by a percentage share of what the clinic charges clients for the service. Marketing materials for the clinic are included free of charge.

Once the cost is determined by the clinic, the clinic would charge interested clients for the service at their discretion (either preemptively or after consultation). After the consultation, an invoice with payment options will be sent to the clinic within the 30 day period after the service.

How to get your clients & patients on my schedule:
Once payment is received from the client by the clinic, the clinic should fill out the request form below to provide the case information. After that form is received, I will reach out to the client directly via the information provided in the form and schedule the consultation.

Disclosure: Please note that this service is intended to increase access to behavior care. My goal is to use my behavioral medicine expertise to provide paraprofessional support to veterinary clinics. However, I am not a replacement for a board-certified veterinary behaviorist, and where indicated, referral to a board-certified veterinary behaviorist may be recommended after discussion with the primary care doctor. In these cases, once a committment is made by the client to see a veterinary behaviorist, I can liason to coordinate care between doctors.
